Cold & Frosty Christmas Shaker Card

Greetings! Kathi here with a Cold and Frosty Christmas shaker card created with the wonderful American Gothic Christmas Rubber Stamp!

Here's a small tutorial to show I how I created it!

Use Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp the American Gothic Christmas Rubber Stamp onto white cardstock. Color the image and the entire panel with Copic markers. Use a white gel pen to add highlights to the holly berries. 

Use a white Uni Posca paint pen to add white dots over the image panel to make snowflakes. Adhere the image panel to a piece of plaid patterned paper from the Graphic 45 Christmastime pad. 

Pat the image panel with an anti-static pad to prevent the future shaker contents from sticking.

Cut a piece of acetate so that it's about 1" wider and longer than the matted image panel. I used the clear acetate packaging saved from a stamp, die, or stencil. 

Place the matted image panel facedown onto the acetate. Apply strong two-sided tape long the side of the image panel close to the edge of the card. Remove the tape's backing, and press the acetate onto the tape. Repeat this process so that both sides and the bottom are sealed. Use a bone folder to make sure that the acetate is firmly adhered to the back of the image panel forming a sealed shaker envelope.

Flip the shaker envelope over. Assemble your shaker elements. I've used some snowflakes and some sparkly lightweight mylar confetti. 

Pour the shaker elements into the acetate envelope. Flip the shaker over and use the two-sided tape to seal the top of the shaker.

Adhere the shaker panel to a green A2 card.

Use a scalloped rectangle frame die to cut patterned paper or cardstock. I used green wood patterned paper from the Christmas Watercolor pad by Scrapbook Customs. 

Flip the frame die-cut so that the reverse is showing. Add black foam tape to the die-cut.

Use the Noel Banners from the Holiday Sentiments Banner die set to cut white glitter paper and green cardstock. Assemble the die-cut pair. 

Adhere the banner to the top of the shaker panel.  Adhere the frame die over the shaker image panel as shown.

Hello Portal Peeps!   Gail here today.  The Cold and Frosty Challenge makes are looking lovely.  Don't forget to add yours to the linky for a chance to win.   I went with blues for cold and glitter for frost with this lovely Jester Square from Carmen's Veranda.

I stamped and embossed the Pondscum Background stamp with some glittery embossing powder and smooched on some distress inks in shades of blue.  I stamped Jester Square, embossed with silver embossing powder and coloured with sharpies.  The happy birthday is from the Party Words set.

my contribution to the

 "Cold and Frosty" challenge is a Christmas card.

I will tell you how I made it.

I used:

LCD Party pig girl.

Misc words.

Party words.

Long swirl.

Pieces of architecture.

Distress ink:

Tumbled glass

Weatherd wood

Distress oxide: 

Chipped sapphire

Black waterproof ink.

Versamark.

Holly leaf die.

Snowflake stencil.

White embossing powder with a sparkle.

Nuvo glitter gloss silver.

Wax stamp.

Silver metalic marker/pen.

Light blue marker or pencil.

Heattool.

Dark blue cardstock 13.5cm x 18cm.

White card 9.5cm x 14cm.

White cardstock 9.9cm x 14.4cm

Make this background by going over the stencil 

with tumbled glass and weathered wood.

Lightly spray some water on it.

Print it on the paper.

Take another piece of paper and make a puddle with the two inks.

Dab your paper in it and make spots, 

we will die cut the holly branches out of this paper.

Stamp the girl with black ink.

Color her with the blue marker/pencil.

Cut her out and glue her on the card.

With the longswirl you stamp top left with the versamark.

Sprinkle the embossing powder and heatset it with the heat tool.

Stamp the words with black ink.

Take a dark blue cardstock of 18x13.5cm.

Cut or punch the corners off.

Stamp it with the stamp of the pieces of architecture and Distress oxide chipped saphire.

Set aside to dry thoroughly.

Die cut the holly branch twice.

Make the berries silver with the metallic silver marker.

Make a wax seal.

Of course it's up to you. 

You can make a wax seal, or something else. 

A poinsietta is also a great idea.

Assemble the card and finish it.

Now we go with the Nuvo glitter over the girl.

I did the fur edges on her coat. 

Also the bow on her leg and neck, her hair and shoes.

It's a shame, the glitter is so hard to see in the photos.

Tis the season and we want to see your stamped anythings with a cold and frosty look.  Sounds like an excuse to get out the glitter!!!!   Real rubber or clear stamping and the theme must be the focus of your project.  A small stamped sentiment in a sea of die cuts or digi images will not qualify to win the prize and you may be deleted!!!!  Bwahahhaaahaha.

Wintery tag

small snowflake set

I started out with a digital tag that I printed out. I then stamped the middle of the Mona window randomly on the background I did the same thing for the small snowflake set and the Doodles circles;

 

I stamped the CDRoly jester on white cardstock and colored it in with copic markers.

Lastly, I added a sliver pipe cleaner and some snowflake glitter to the tag.

Hello stamping friends, Aimee here! The Cold & Frosty Challenge is right up my alley--I live high up in a Utah canyon where it's cold all winter. In fact, it's snowing right now as I write this blog entry. 

Black-capped Chickadees are one of my favorite birds, so seeing this little guy all dressed up, ready to attend his neighborhood Christmas party, was fun inspiration for this month's Challenge. Follow along with these photos to see how I made this card using the stamp Megan's Christmas Bird.
